Our Vision
In 2025, Central Oregon Prescribed Burn Co Op (COPBC) is established with a mission to foster a community dedicated to responsible fire in Deschutes and adjacent counties. Given that nearly half of Oregon’s land is privately held, the existence of PBAs is crucial. By reintroducing controlled burns on the landscape, the COPBC aims to offer the community a cost-effective method for land stewardship, mitigating wildfire hazards, enhancing wildlife habitat, and addressing the impacts of climate change. The COPBC is committed to empowering the public to actively participate in restoring the vitality of their natural surroundings. Its diverse membership will encompass tribal communities, landowners, land managers, industrial forest professionals, farmers, ranchers, agency professionals, community members, and students, all interested parties united in this ecological endeavor.
